KTA conducted the structural survey of the building, examining everything from the roof down to foundation level and carried out design checks to confirm the building suitability for the proposed additional loadings including checks on the historic outbuilding roof trusses which were to be preserved.

Our design work included modifications to the outbuilding to create a new dining area designed to harmonise with the industrial era of the building.

We also designed the infill roof covering of the existing central courtyard and provided designs for various internal wall alterations to open the existing trade areas and to create a flow through to the new dining areas.

KTA was later appointed by and worked closely with the main contractor, Stenball Group Ltd, as the steel connections designer and temporary works designer. We facilitated the creation of large new wall openings, supported the historic outbuildings, and stabilized the boundary party walls to accommodate the installation of the feature industrial steel frame, up to the completion and handover of the site in December 2023.
