On this project, we were tasked with assessing the existing roof plant enclosure for the installation of new, heavier equipment and service riser voids. With no prior structural information available, our team conducted a thorough on-site evaluation of the structure surrounding and beneath the plant room.
We designed a structural steel frame support solution that fits entirely within the roof plant enclosure, eliminating the need for dropped ceilings and avoiding conflicts with existing services. The frame was securely bolted down through the concrete slab, ensuring stability even with the new voids.
To mix things up a bit and avoid an overload of roof photos, here are some images showcasing how the hospital appeared in 1888 and 1922 when the memorial was unveiled—remarkably, it hasn't changed much since then!
