KTA was appointed as the structural engineer for the refurbishment of this charming rural country pub for Greene King. Our work included the careful removal of several internal structural walls and piers, alongside significant landscaping efforts.

One of the standout structural features was a tall retaining wall, constructed using reinforced hollow blockwork to streamline the construction process. We also designed a large, covered pergola with robust timber connections, enhancing the garden's appeal.

Given the pergola's size, extensive design details were essential to ensure its stability. Moreover, we encountered unique challenges with the below-ground soakaway, requiring intricate piled foundations.

Collaborating closely with the design team Tibbatts Abel and the main contractor, Turvey Construction, we diligently assessed the site's modified internal structure and ground conditions to guarantee the stability of the major landscaping works.
